The A1/A6 project is an availability-based PPP to finance, design and build and provide maintenance services for the A1 and A6 motorways between Diemen and Almere for approximately 18 km.  It is part of the wider Schiphol – Amsterdam – Almere (SAA) corridor improvement program. The project comprises two interchanges and approximately 90 structures of all sizes, of which 5 can be seen as main structures:

  • Diemen Railway bridge over the A9-A1 bypass
  • Amsterdam to Rhine Canal Bridge (Amsterdam Rijnkanaal)
  • Vecht aqueduct
  • Muiderberg railway bridge
  • New Hollandse bridge

The project became operational in July 2017 and availability payments are received until July 2042. The A1/A6 motorway is one of the largest PPP projects undertaken in the Netherlands. As part of the wider Schiphol – Amsterdam – Almere (SAA) corridor improvement program it is a vital corridor extension, allowing continuous area development with substantial commuter traffic into Amsterdam.
