Gloucester Royal Hospital
The Gloucester Royal Hospital project is an availability-based PPP project involving the design, construction, and refurbishment of healthcare infrastructure to create an integrated 18,000 m² care facility combining new and upgraded departments.
The development integrates new outpatient, accident and emergency, and children’s departments with refurbished existing facilities. The project includes a new hospital frontage and entrance, significantly improving patient flow, clinical functionality, and the working environment for medical staff.
As part of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the facility serves both Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital sites, creating an integrated network. The enhanced infrastructure supports improved patient care and operational efficiency across the trust’s services.
Sustainability
The hospital treat approx. 58,000 in-patients and over 130,000 outpatients annually. The Trust employs over 9,000 staff, which makes it one of the largest employers in Gloucestershire and one of the top 10 largest NHS Trusts in the Southwest region of England.
