The Kelowna & Vernon Hospitals project is a construction plus 30-year availability based PPP contract to design, build, operate and maintain a new Patient Care Tower, a new University of British Columbia Clinical Academic Campus and car park, a new Clinical Laboratory Support Building at Kelowna Hospital, and a new Patient Care Tower at Vernon Jubilee Hospital totalling over of 750,000 sq. ft. (69,700 sq. m.) of new facility space. Concession expiry is in January 2042.
These four new facilities are also integrated with over 775,000 sq. ft. (72,000 sq. m.) of existing healthcare infrastructure space at both Kelowna and Vernon hospital sites respectively. This existing healthcare infrastructure is included under the long-term maintenance and operations of the PPP project and such maintenance and operations was started in 2009, approximately three years in advance of the 2012 service commencement date during the original construction period. Both the cities of Kelowna and Vernon are situated alongside Lake Okanagan in the interior of British Columbia, Canada.
