Stanton Territorial Hospital
Stanton Territorial Hospital is a 27,000 m² healthcare facility, located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Delivered as a PPP, the project involved the design, build, finance, operation, and maintenance of a modern facility with 100 patient rooms, offering both outpatient and inpatient services. The hospital includes emergency, surgical, mental health, and specialty care, and incorporates culturally sensitive design elements, including a teepee-inspired Sacred Space.
The facility became operational in 2018, with the concession running until 2048. Availability payments are received from the Government of the Northwest Territories.
Sustainability
The building supports long-term sustainability through energy-efficient operations, including biomass (wood pellet) boilers with dual-fuel back-up. All facilities are equipped with LED lighting, supported by lighting control systems to further reduce energy consumption. Heat-reclaim chillers provide continuous cooling for IT loads and electrical rooms, and the recovered heat is reused to preheat domestic hot water and provide reheat for air handling units. The facility also incorporates features such as a living wall and therapeutic gardens.
